Daniel O'Brien's Your Presidential Fantasy Dream Team is a good book about the presidents, based on O'Brien's more adult oriented book - How to Fight Presidents. O'Brien keeps it interesting for adults and kids, while keeping the book appropriate for students. It is funny and laugh out loud at times, while informative. As a teacher, it is a good fit for any class library. The book is helpful when it comes to certain ideas in the classroom, making the presidents come alive in interesting and often humorous ways. If you enjoy this book I would recommend the book The Lives of the Presidents :Fame Shame and What the Neighbors Thought.

I'm a big fan of O'Brien's first book, How to Fight Presidents, and so I was very excited when I learned that he was adapting it into a version suitable for children to read. I purchased the Audible edition for myself, and I was so pleased to hear how it turned out. It's still as informative as the first book, and is still a very entertaining and amusing read. I have purchased a copy for each of my two oldest nephews in hopes of inspiring in them a love of history.

Great book! I'm a homeschooler and honestly wanted my kiddo to read "How to Fight Presidents." I have a copy and love it but while it's fine for adults, it might not be the best for a middle school kid learning about our founding fathers and the colorful characters who ran our country. ;) This was exactly what I hoped for. A PG version of the same book with all the facts and fun stuff. It's silly and I'd compare the humor to the BBC's Horrible Histories. Fingers crossed that Dan O'Brien writes even more kid friendly history books. I'll be the first in line to add it to our must read list.

One of my favorite comedy writers. I was really happy DOB wrote a book I can share with my middle school students. The book makes the kids excited about learning about the U.S. Presidents. The stuff in our common core is so boring and usually wrong. DOB's book contains such neat facts about each president that it really helps the kids remember them. I don't think they will ever forget Taft after reading his chapter. I think it was their favorite.

Such a fun book and a great way to get children (and adults for that matter) into history and learning about the succession of men who have become president. Just enough information to get them asking questions and researching on their own. And just enough entertainment to make them want to read through till the end. My 8-year-old loves it. Highly recommended.

This book gives me hope. Just hope. Lots of hope. So much hope. Whatever is up with the next one.

Daniel O'Brien is funny and smart. O'Brien make learning history about presidents fun.

If you enjoyed the show you'll definitelly enjoy this book. It brings details on the most interesting trips the author had while hosting Three Sheets, plus funny anecdotes, facts and a little more in-depth knowledge about the beverages presented in the show. I specially enjoyed some recipes for drinks as also the writing style that has the same amusing tone from the show. If you enjoy travelling and tasting new drinks as I do, it's a very good reading.Ps. Zane, if you ever come again to Brazil, there's a lot better and more interesting places to drink than those you visited in Rio.

It's a very good book. I was worried that it would be a carbon copy of his shows and what he did in them. There are some of the same things in both but there is also some things that were not in the show that made the book. If you have not seen his shows you will still completely understand the book; and if you have seen the shows this book will still be funny and entertaining.

If you enjoy Zane's Drinking Made Easy show, then you will also enjoy the book. It's a fun, easy read. I bought it for my husband for Christmas and winded up reading it myself. We both enjoyed it!

Fun book to read. You can practically hear Zane's voice in your head. Too bad the paper is a little cheap feeling, since this is a great book.

I'm big into the LOA, positive thinking, the power of belief, the power of thought, etc., etc., etc. I purchased this book because Dr. Dyer speaks and writes on these topics and I believed that this book would add insight to the insight I have already gathered. That was not the case.This book reads like it's in another language. For example, the word "intention" in the common vernacular means a thing intended, an aim or a plan. In this book, Dyer defines "intention" as a field of energy that flows invisibly beyond the reach of our normal patterns. He also defines it as "the source," it's "pure, unbounded energy."Later in the chapter, he writes that intention has a mind; "Our individual thoughts create a prototype in the universal mind of intention." He personifies this pure, unbounded energy (Intention) by stating it has a mind, but it's unclear if it has a literal mind of its own or if this has some other esoteric meaning. He says that if a thought is left undisturbed in your mind and in "the mind of intention" (pure, unbounded energy) it will germinate into reality in the physical world. Well, to the normal mind, the first question that comes to mind (no pun intended) is--does intention have a mind like my mind? Is intention an intelligent being who thinks? How can I know whether my thoughts are in line with Intention's thoughts? Would intention let me know? If my thoughts do not germinate into reality is that my way of knowing that my thoughts were not in line with Intention's thoughts? How can I communicate with Intention to know what his/her thoughts are so I can think the same thoughts as him/her? The entire first chapter is esoteric and weird, to me.I assume that the writing style is what makes the book so confusing. For example, there is a sentence that reads, "Know that your thought or prayer is already here." Well, this can cause some confusion. Of course I know that my thought or prayer is already here, I just thought it or prayed it. I think the more accurate, clearer sentence would be, "know that whatever you are thinking about is here or whatever you prayed about is already here." These small nuances would make a huge difference. I think people who may have followed Dr. Dyer know what he means. But for someone who is just now reading his books, you may be as lost as I was reading this book.Last one. In chapter one, he suggests repeating the word "intent" repeatedly when you're in a state of anxiety. For this to do something for someone, there must be some sort of meaning to this word that would address the anxiety. If a person believes and knows the word "anxiety" to mean "a plan" then there is little to no chance that repeating this word would relieve the anxiety. I can see someone reading chapter one and in a stressful moment repeating "intent" only to grow more anxious when he or she realizes their anxiety is not going anywhere.This book was not for me and I cannot recommend it to anyone seeking more insight into manifesting a life they really want.

Throughout everyone's life, we are exposed to experiences, material, books, leaders, that have the ability to transform your life.For me, what made the difference this time reading Dr. Wayne's book: I was ready to receive his powerful message. If you're at that place in your life, ready for remarkable changes, this book is a wonderful vehicle to help you reach your destination.

Good read. Though the repetition is intended to build upon, it became a bit over-redundant in some ways. Felt he was hunting for words versus expanding the thought(s). What was missed that should have been re-enforced in words is the 7 intentions. Pay attention to those, write them down for they will be referenced If you adhere to the premise(s) your life will be blessed in many ways

There aren't enough stars to rate this book, it is simply sublime, easy to read too considering the subject. the very best book I have read in a long time it deserves eleven stars. Even though it is a form of teaching it was still hard not to read right through and then digest it all.It is a feast of the soul that macs I know for sure. The big star of course is Wayne Dyer himself.

This is one of those books you keep near your bedside for late night reading so you can fall asleep after cramming your mind with all these positive thoughts and affirmations, and feel-good thinking. That way, after your unconscious continues to play with the ideas to help you fashion the new you in your dreams, you can awaken the next morning in a very “born again” manner.Perhaps for that reason, it’s also one of those books that might take you six months or more to read, as it’s a form of spiritual medicine perhaps best appreciated in small doses. Which is not to say you can’t sprint through the book, but it’s been my experience that Dwayne’s books are better for daily tune-ups, served up in small bite size chunks than read end to end in one sitting. But that’s just me.I prefer to take one of the many brilliant thesis-like ideas in the book, presented in one or two paragraphs and meditate and reflect on that for a few days. But however you get through The Power of Intention, it’s time well spent.

This book is wonderful in the way it leads you through the process of intention! I highly recommend reading it at least once a year. Refreshing in it's outlook.

I first read this book back in 2001 and loved it. Really healed me gain insight into my behaviors that we're hurting my chances at happiness and successful relationships. His "steps" toward the power of intention are practical ego-deflators that show you how to behave and live Ike a human connected to things bigger and better than you into the universe. Don't get hung up on language. Whatever word you call it ("god" or otherwise), the "intention" is really just a good, honest connectedness with humankind and things in nature and the world. We all need to be reminded that we are a part of something huge and wonderful and connected to each other in order to let go of negativity and embrace the fact that we are meant to be at peace and only our thoughts and bad habits get us into trouble and take us a way from that. I re-read this book often when I need to remember these lessons.

The first book I read many years ago by Dr. Dyer was "Erroneous Zones." That's "erroneous", not "erogenous". Wordplay in title to sell more copies? Hmmm... It's a self help book, not a sex guide! But, I would highly recommend ANY book by this fellow.

This is a story of a troubled young woman from upstate new york. In the book, she describes her childhood as a "haze of sex, drugs and rock 'n roll". At the age of 19, the book has her marrying a man she describes as "whip smart" and mentally ill. She describes the marriage as having been motivated by the "legal benefits".She is a child of the internet and goes to great lengths in the book to describe how the internet improved her life. In the book she says that the internet gave enough information on drugs that she was able to survive "a couple of potential overdoses". She also describes how it improved her ability to date women in that she longer had to initiate relationships asking awkward questions about a women's sexual preference.The book then describes how, married at the age of 19 to a man she describes in the book as mentally ill, that they quickly became homeless through "a series of small misfortunes". He could not find a job and she was unable to support the both of them on minimum wage. So after living in a car, the book explains how she took up "sex work". Sex work was to her less demeaning than working in fast food. Her husband began to make money by playing the online game "everquest" and selling items gained in the game to other people. She considered herself lucky because many of her friends overdosed, got pregnant or ended up in jail.The book then describes how he moved into photography as a career motivated by the possibilities it provided in terms of moving up the "value chain" in sex work. The book then describes how she divorced her husband and moved to Toronto. After a little while in Toronto, she took a "free" six-week course in video games for artists and began to describe herself as a video game developer.The book describes her sole experience in video games as being involved in the creation of a simple adventure game for web browsers around the the theme of depression.The book then describes how she considered herself subjected to a massive campaign of harrasment on the internet. The book becomes rather vague on these subjects. The book says her ex-boyfriend wrote something mean about her which made it worse. The book is brief on these particular points. Then she starts talking less about herself and more generally about bad things that have happened on the internet to other people. The book loses focus at that point and tends to move away from any sort of usual biography. It transitions from biography to something else.Around page 60, the life of political activist Anita Sarkeesian begins to take over the book. By page 156, the author is speaking in front of the UN. In the book, she says she was disappointed that the UN portrayed her as a "gamergate victim" rather than a "woman in tech", an activist or a crisis helpline operator. Though of course the majority of the book is devoted to portraying her as a "gamergate victim".In the book, she constantly makes herself a part of "my industry" (video games) or "my community" (video game developers) based on her creation of the one web-browser game and the six-week course in video game development she took.The book is a strong political statement in favor of breaking down the traditional barriers of education and employment in the tech industry. The message is that "women in tech" should include all women who do anything with technology regardless of education, training or employment. That perhaps we need to re-think making protections too workplace centeric and create protections for people that apply generally rather than based on employment.In the end, this is a simply another book detailing another one of the uncountable people who get into feuds on the internet that go out of control. I could not find anything generally applicable in the story. Its not really a biography. Its not all that useful in terms of advice in dealing with problems on the internet. Her life is so very unusual that its difficult to take many lessons from it. Its certainly applicable to very few women in technology.Perhaps its most useful for those considering careers in political activism in terms of providing a minor amount of information on lessons learned in terms of dealing with the internet. But even then I wonder how useful it is.

If you are online, whether you have been the target of this type of hate or not, you should read this book and learn about it. If more people are aware easier it would be to bring much needed change.

While the subject matter is dark, and the story being told is horrifying, Crash Override somehow manages to provide a glimmer of hope in the sea of online hate. Zoë Quinn has a unique way with words and successfully balances her impressive sense of humor with the gravity of her situation.I have known about her story for many years now, so I expected this book to be a recounting of that part of her life, but Crash Override is so much more than a page in a history book. Quinn uses her story to bring awareness to all forms of online abuse, and most importantly, how we as a community can overcome it.This book is so much more than the sum of its parts, and I will be recommending it to everyone I know for many years to come.

Worst of all sins, it's not interesting. I would go into further detail but you read this kind of book before, nothing new here. It's best summed up as ones trails and tribulations, and how they overcame them. But for a better read, I'd direct you to something that's written better and has much more impact. Try something like "Dreams From My Father". or basically anything else. This isn't worth the time.

He would find his way to Florida, open a head shop, and produce his first festival—Miami Pop, featuring Jimi Hendrix, Frank Zappa, and others—then travel to Woodstock, where, after meeting Artie Kornfeld, his vision for a festival where folks could come and stay for a few days amid the rural beauty of upstate New York would become a reality. With Artie, new partners John Roberts and Joel Rosenman, and his handpicked crew, Lang booked talent, from Janis Joplin and the Who to the virtually unknown Santana and Crosby, Stills and Nash; won over agents, promoters, and townspeople; took on fleets of volunteers; built a festival site from the ground up; and, in the end, created the landmark cultural event that defined a generation.

There is also an index and source section,not included in the above page count. There are twenty-four pages of black and white photographs which lend a good,though limited,visual idea of the festival.This is another good book about the three day event in 1969,which centers a lot on Michael Lang,which is fine. His partner,Artie Kornfeld, was crucial in helping distill Lang's ideas into something approaching a workable plan,especially in the beginning,for which he should be remembered. Between the two of them,they arrived at the idea of holding a music festival to pay for a recording studio set-up they envisioned in the Woodstock area,an area where a lot of musicians either "hung out" or lived nearby.The book,written in a combination of first person and historical style,begins with a short overview of Lang's youth in Brooklyn,and continues with his college-age days and beyond in Florida. He talks about his "headshop" and producing the Miami Pop (with five dollar admission) Festival. After moving to Woodstock N.Y.,is when the studio complex/living area idea began to crystallize (no pun intended) in his head. Talking it over with Kornfeld (an A&R man in the music business) they thought people would love the bucolic surroundings and come into the area to live and record.The story is also told through other people involved in the venture and through a number of performers at the event. This is where the "meat" of this book is found. The viewpoints of the many people (Chip Monck,Pete Townshend (among many performers),Wavy Gravy,John Roberts,et al) really tell the story in an immediate,"I was there" way. The story is told chronologically from the very beginning until the three day event came to a close. The small vignettes and viewpoints told by various attendees is what holds this book together and makes it worthwhile. The book's epilogue finishes with information on Lang and post-Woodstock activities. This is a real "insiders" look into how this festival came to fruition,and the narrative moves along at a good pace.With a number of books being published on this,the fortieth anniversary of Woodstock,it's nice to have this book which combines not only Lang's thoughts and views from his perspective,but many others involved as well. The text is clearly written and makes for an entertaining and interesting read,no doubt with the help of writer Holly George-Warren. This book,together with two other recent books (WOODSTOCK REVISITED,Susan Reynolds,editor and BACK TO THE GARDEN by Pete Fornatale) the first of which tells about the three day festival through the eyes of the "average" person who attended or tried to attend,and the second,which combines historical and narrative styles,is a good overview of what went on at the festival (even though the author mistakenly has CREEDENCE CLEARWATER REVIVAL's Stu Cook on drums and Doug "Cosmo" Clifford on bass) through the experiences of the performers. Together,these will give as much information and insight into the event that most readers will need.The combination of Lang's "nuts and bolts,from the start" build-up,on through the festival,gives a good picture of how this event came to pass. In the end,THE ROAD TO WOODSTOCK will make most readers wish they,too,could have traveled to this pasture land for this once in a lifetime event. If you grew up in the sixties-here's a chance to relive a part of your youth. If you weren't around to remember the times-this book will help you understand it a bit better. This book gives insight into the "sixties" era,and the mind-set of the time-a time and event that will never happen again.

This book provides a magnificent insight into how Woodstock 1969 came about. I found it thoroughly well written, vastly entertaining and entirely engaging.I've read numerous Woodstock books that chronicle the event through the eyes of those who attended the event. However, to read the story behind the scenes of Woodstock, from concept through fruition and beyond, from the point of view of one who was central to production is priceless. This is a story only Michael could tell with anecdotes skillfully interwoven from both production team members and performers, lending insight and clarity to how and why decisions were made. It was a hell of a ride, overcoming monstrous adversity at every turn. Clearly this was the festival destined to be.Additionally, and gratefully, this book includes photos of those providing anecdotes allowing the reader to put faces to names.I almost didn't purchase this book because of some of the negative reviews it received. Let me put it this way; if you want to hear the amazing tale of how Woodstock ultimately became the cultural phenomenon it was, from the man himself, then give it a chance.

Even though I was only ten years old, I remember well all the hype over Woodstock in the news media and the big Life Magazine article. I was far too young to even think about attending Woodstock, but at the time I was fascinated by the concept. It was interesting to find out all the prep it took to get this iconic music festival up and running. A TON of work and worry & financial juggling went into the planning of this event which almost fell apart at the 11th hour due to a needed change of venue. The Zoning issues alone, must have had the organizers pulling their (long) hair out. But WHAT an event it turned out to be for those who attended. And the music!!! and the groups who played there...amazingly talented. I found this book so interesting that as a result, I downloaded the over 2 hour documentary that was made at Woodstock. What a treat it was to hear and see Jimi Hendrix perform and Grace Slick and The Who, and especially Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young in their formative days. They were fantastic, even though I watched and listened to it all on my small screen Kindle. it was worth doing. This book is the perfect backdrop to let you know all that went on with set up, the event itself and even the post Woodstock fall-out. While Middle class, Middle American parents ( like mine) were a little horrified by all the "pot heads" (as they called them) who attended Woodstock...I for one was amazed and a tad bit jealous that I was just too young to be a part of the counter-culture scene. Woodstock was like a window into that "Scene". The book tells the story very well.
